Nine Oaks’ has some superb recreational Coarse and Trout Fishing and Self-Catering Angler and/or Family Holidays. In a naturally stunning setting, just 2 miles from the beautiful Ceredigion Coast; just 20 miles south of Aberystwyth.
Nine Oaks Angling Center lies on the edge of the little hamlet of Oakford (“Derwen Gam” in Welsh) which is roughly 2 miles inland from the Cardigan Bay coast in Ceredigion, West Wales. Ceredigion is one of the least populated counties in Wales, providing 60 miles of spectacular coastline with untouched beaches and miles of uncongested coastal footpaths. The counties main towns are Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Lampeter, and Aberaeron.
Our location is perfect for touring Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, and most places in Wales too. We have holiday cottages and static caravans and 3 Trout Pools and 3 Coarse Lakes. We provide excellent Trout and top-class general Coarse Fishing. The Trout Lakes contain mainly Rainbow and Blue Trout from 2lb plus small Brownies. The Coarse Lakes hold all varieties of Carp including Commons, Mirrors, Koi and Grass Carp up to 20lb+, Roach, Bream and skimmer Bream, Tench and small chub and small Barbel.
• Main Lake has an average depth of 4-5ft. There are plenty of trees, bushes and bays all around the lake that provide lots of features to fish in to and under.
A good variety of Carp of all sizes with the biggest going into the mid-20’s. Main also has some excellent Roach fishing, skimmers, small Tench, and Grass carp up to 14lb. We also have some excellent Roach fishing with Roach up to 1½lb with plenty around the ¾lb mark. Tench go up to 3lb.
• Novices is between 4ft and 6ft deep in the middle. Some tree cover and 3ft deep margins. There are only a couple of Tench. Plenty of Carp up to 4lb with plenty of ½lb’ers and surprisingly good Roach to keep the novice, beginner or expert angler busy all day. To one side of the Lake there is a thick hedge providing plenty of cover when it’s windy.
• House pool is about 10ft deep in the middle with 4ft deep margins and lots of reeds and Iris. Plenty of features and trees/bushes on 3 sides and a large lilly bed to one side - which we do not allow fishing in. House, like Main, has a good head of Carp plus good Bream, excellent Roach up to 2lb, nice Tench and a couple of Grass Carp up to 10lb. Carp here go up to 18lb with an average of about 4lb. Some awesome Roach fishing with a large shoal congregating towards the center in summer months and about 1-2ft down. Roach in here go over 2lb. Tench up to 5lb.
Our holiday accommodation is spotlessly clean, fresh and consists of self-catering holiday cottages; Welsh Tourist Board graded at 4star standard, and quality Static Caravans. All are very close to the lakes and all are suitable for couples, for family holidays (with or without fishing) or specifically Fishing Holidays.
The cottages are disabled friendly. About 4 miles away, in a south-westerly direction, is the lovely old fishing village of New Quay (Wales) with its crystal clear waters and beautiful sweeping, sandy bays.
Also 4 miles away, northerly, is the busy coastal town of Aberaeron.
With its myriad of colourful Victorian houses and shops. Cardigan is 20 miles south, Aberystwyth is 20 miles north and Carmarthen roughly 35 miles away south easterly inland.
The Fishery has 3 Trout Lakes, 2 Coarse Lakes, and 1 Novices pool for Coarse Fishing.
The Trout lakes hold Rainbows, Blues from 2lb and Brown Trout.
The Coarse Lakes hold all varieties of Carp (Ghost, Mirror, Common, Koi, Grass), real quality Roach, good Bream, Tench, small Chub, small Barbel and some good Eels.
The Welsh Government has mandated that we must collect minimum contact details to assist, when needed, "contact and trace" activities. For this purpose we will be asking all our anglers daily for their name and a contact telephone number. These details will be kept for a maximum of 31 days, after which they will be shredded.
